Cedric Teuchert set to join St. Louis CITY SC - Free agent arrives from Hannover 96

St. Louis CITY SC have a deal in principle to sign Cedric Teuchert from 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96. Although not completely done yet, only small details are missing for the 27-year-old to join the Major League Soccer club. Hannover 96, in fact, have already confirmed that the striker was going to leave the club on “a new adventure abroad” in the summer. Teuchert is free to sign for any club now but won't be able to join his new club until July 1, 2024 when his current club with the German team expires. 

Reports in Germany have since indicated that Teuchert has already signed a multi-million dollar offer from St. Louis. Sources, however, have told Transfermarkt that no agreement has been reached with Teuchert at this stage. Furthermore, a report by Bild suggesting a salary in the seven-figure range appears to be exaggerated. As reported in the past, St. Louis are very much reluctant when it comes to paying Designated Player type salaries. 

The striker also had offers from Belgium, Dinamo Zagreb and one other MLS team. But it now appears that St. Louis have won the race for the forward. St. Louis are very much the favorite to wrap this deal up and finally sign a replacement for Nicholas Gioacchini, who left the club in the winter for Serie B side Como.  

Teuchert to St. Louis CITY SC? Scored every 110 minutes this season

Teuchert would be a top replacement for Gioacchini. Although the 27-year-old center-forward has struggled with injuries this season, Teuchert has managed 12 goals in 28 games across all competitions. Somewhat limited for minutes because of fitness, Teuchert has scored 110 minutes this season, or in other words, almost a goal a game. Indeed, his 11 2. Bundesliga goals rank him 12^th in the league and first among Hannover players (overview).
